Is It Really Possible To Astral Project?

By David J Short

Many people believe that everyone is born with the ability of astral projection. Practice makes perfect and that is the only difference between those can and those who can't. An ancient practice that believers say should be treated with the utmost respect, astral projection is similar to yoga and meditation. With several varieties and different forms of projection, this phenomenon has been around for centuries.

Lucid dreaming is one type of astral projecting. Lucid dreaming is of course when we are conscious of our dreaming " this is actually astral projecting. In order to lucid dream, all you need to do is to tell yourself 'I am dreaming' while in the dream.

As you repeat this phrase, you can wake up in your dream and have the freedom to do anything you like. This may be difficult for beginners and may take time to practice before it works.

Astral projection is something you have done before, although you may not realize that you have done so. Have you ever awoken from a particularly vivid dream remembering every detail? You were not dreaming this " you were astral projecting.

Believing that you can project is the key to achieving it. This faith eliminates doubts and fears about astral projection and helps you to easily achieve projection.

By practicing relaxation techniques including meditation, you can prepare yourself to astral project. Meditation is perhaps the most effective technique to prepare yourself to astral project. The important thing is finding a meditation technique which allows you to become completely relaxed.

You should do your meditation in a quiet room where you have a comfortable place to sit and will not be interrupted or distracted. Start freeing your mind of worry and tension. You cant astral project when you have these negative energies in your mind. Begin to eliminate all thoughts from your mind and focus on your breathing. You want to take deep, slow breaths " in thorough your nose, out through your mouth. If you can remain focused on your breathing, youll begin to feel yourself relaxing.

Achieving an altered state of consciousness is the next level of astral projection. Consistantly breathing deeply and slowly to keep your mind clear and stay relaxed is the goal at this state. Breathing in through the nose and out of the mouth helps to slow and deepen breathing.

The next step is to totally relax your body, starting from the ground up. Tense each part of the body then relax it, as you exhale to relax, repeat 'my toes are relaxing, and I am relaxing too.'

At this point, you will start to feel heavy almost as if energy is leaving your body. As you get to this point, and you are completely relaxed, you will know that it is time to move on to the next step of astral projection.

At this point, you are completely ready and prepared for sleep, but it is important to stay alert during this time. Many practicing projectors come up with a phrase such as 'I can fly, I can fly' there is no wrong phrase, so you can come up with your own.

If you begin to get bored as the mind tends to do when it has nothing to focus on, you may have to reel it back in. If you are stuck in this rut, either end the session or use your phrase to bring your mind back into focus.

Reaching an altered state of consciousness requires several steps. Repeating your motto repeatedly can help you reach the next level. The body of light technique is where you focus on a body of light in your mind and see yourself transforming into this light.

Three feelings you can expect to experience that will let you know that you have achieved astral projection are initially feeling as through your floating or moving. You will then see lights and colors even though your eyes are closed, this is believed to be your body moving into the astral world. Last, it is said that you will hear voices that will tell you to stop or encourage you to keep going. This state lets you know that you have achieved astral projection.
